What are ground reinforcement grids?

Ground reinforcement grids also known as permeable paving grids, help achieve a firm level ground and are excellent for mostly driveway parking areas.

As we all know, the United Kingdom experiences a high level of rainfall, majority of the year, whether it is heavy rain or just a light rain shower, which can cause flooding as well.

A plastic ground reinforcement system can help keep the ground firm and provide an adequate sustainable drainage system (SuDS) without the need for planning permission.

SuDS is a method to manage drainage in and around buildings, along with breaking down the natural water cycle, for example, overflows, biofiltration, and soil percolation.

What ground can the ground reinforcement grid be installed?

An advantage of our ground reinforcement grids is that they are extremely easy to install and, in most applications, can be filled with gravel preventing gravel migration. The most common ground material is gravel, but other suitable surface areas include grass or turf.

Also due to the constant use, weather conditions, and the shifting of the soil, ground reinforcement grids can be installed on golf course pathways and other larger parking areas.

Fitting a ground reinforcement with a drainage system can retain the look of an area. In addition, the gravel reinforcement grids can help golf carts drive more smoothly rather than going over uneven surfaces.

How does it work?

Placing our interlocking gravel reinforcement grids ensures there is less gravel movement and prevents migration to other areas. Ground reinforcement grids for driveways will prevent car tyres, wheels, or feet from affecting your driveway, avoid erosion and strengthen any grass areas.

Installing reinforcement grids in 3 easy steps

Step 1 – To begin with, you must have a level base consisting of mainly compacted hardcore plus sand.

Step 2 – Connect all your grids together by interlocking each grid with one another. Grids are delivered in square metres and made up of 9 interlocked pieces each with an approximate dimension of 330x330x4mm.

Step 3 – Once you have connected all the grids, you are able to fill your ground reinforcement system with gravel, stones, or any other suitable ground fillings. Graded crush stones are most suitable for optimum drainage.

Benefits of ground reinforcement

Ground reinforcement can offer many benefits. They are strong, durable, and able to withstand relatively heavy loads. Also laying ground reinforcement grids are much more cost-effective than other ground reinforcement options.

They are extremely long-lasting, providing many years of use. Furthermore, the grids interlock so they are quick and easy to install and can be used for a variety of applications along with having an anti-slip surface, making them safer and more harmless.
